Hi Shar; I have found that when lowering the dosage of Prednisone, it would only work when I drop it 1/2mg at a time(intervals of 3wks) I tried twice to lower it like you did and it will not work. It has to be done very low dosage and take several weeks. You asked why I went undiagnosed for 15 mos? Well I'm here to tell you there is more than just a few morons posing as qualified physicians in this country. My trusted GP swore to me it was nothing more than some nerves in my low back that were being compressed. He sent me to a Pain Dr. who injected light dosages of steroids into my low spine about every week or so. I truly felt better for several days and I really thought they knew what they were saying. OF COURSE I FELT BETTER...I was getting the steroids for a short time and then the paid would return. I finally went to a great Rheumatologist and like I said, he had me diagnosed within one week. I took 80mgs of Prednisone that first evening and at 2am I was standing in the bathroom when it occured to me I had walked in by myself without help from my husband as usual. He had had to dress me, put my hose on, my shoes and generally just take care of me. (Bless him). I wonder if you ever found your nerves going to pieces? I would stand in the shower and cry my eyes out. The water seemed to just unnerve me and made me so depressed. (before I knew what was wrong). Sorry to go on and on. I haven't talked to another person who has this disease in all this time. I have friends with Fibromyalgia, but thats a different story altogether. Thank you for answering my msge.
