I am 30 and had cysts since I was 20. When I was about 24, one burst and I had to have my left ovary removed. I ended up having what is called Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It caused weight gain, acne and intense pain. I also had Endometriosis and had a surgery per year since the age of 24. I think if you get the occasional cyst and the doctor can take care of it, you are all right. Have they done a sonogram to see the size, shape and quantity of cysts? Is is your left or your right side or both? Have they recommended Birth Control Pills for control? If you plan on becoming pregnant, pregnancy can also decrease cysts. It doesn't sound like PCOS or you would be having tons of cysts all the time I think. Ask about the hormone treatment (Birth control pills) they usually work. Also, are the cysts clear or "chocolate" (blood filled)? This makes a difference in how they are treated. Hopefully this gives you some information to take to your doctor with you.
