Hi1 I have been diagnosed with lupus since 1990. I am on antidepressants too. The way they say it works is it lessens the frequency and intensity of the pain. For example, for the first time in 7 years, I have managed to make it four months without having to get a shot for my migraines. I only have had two flare ups this year. I was leary of antidepressants at first because I thought they were saying it was psychological. They give you a lower dose than someone who uses it for depression only. Then, they raise it until they see progress. There are other medications I take, but the effects weren't the same until they added an antidepressant in the mix. They tried two others until they found one that works. I know it gets frustrating. Don't give up. If you need to talk, email me any time... You're not alone.
