I take Neurontin, Ultram, Duroderm pain patches, and Guafenisin everyday. My Neurologist won't give habit forming drugs. I have friends who do take Vicodin for pain. My Neurologist offered to send me to a pain clinic but then I would be turned over to them and I declined because he has helped me and I don't want to go on hard drugs. I also use Bio Freeze that I get at my Chiropractors. It is great to rub on the pain spots but the Chiropractor is the best thing that you can use for pain. It may take a while for you to notice it but give him about a month and you will tell a biiiig difference. He may ask you to come three times a weeks until he gets you lined out. He takes x-rays before he adjusts you and has therapy tables that are great too. I also have one other thing that he prescribed for me that is great and that is an Atens unit that has four pads that you put on the spots where you hurt and it helps to make the pain go away. The one other thing that I know helps more than anything else is sleep. The more you can sleep the better you feel. I have taken trazadone and now take Seroquel at night. If you would like to email me, I would be happy to answer you.
