I previously had surgery for a ruptured cervical disk. I had 2 disks fused together. I do not recommend this. Now I have another ruptured disk underneath the fused disks and they again want to do surgery. My GP said that the first fusion probably caused the need for a 2nd one. I also never lost my neck pain. It's risky surgery and if you have a fusion, most likely it will lead to more and more fusions. I decided I didn't want my whole spine fused. Exercise is the best method and I have cervical epidurals 3 times a year that help a bit. I think I'd wait until science gets a little better. I heard after my surgery that most football players will not have fusion. I guess I now know the reason for it.
