My husband has an anoxic brain injury following a cardiac arrest on Feb 1,1999. He has basically no short-term memory, and his long term memory is impared and appears to be getting worse. He doesn't initiate any activity - must be cued to do most anything. This appears to be worsening also. He is presently in a clinical research project using hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He has also had neurofeedback. He was in acute rehab for 2 months, then in a post-acute rehab facility for brain injured for 2 months last year, but without short-term memory, it didn't have an impact. He is very passive, not a behavior problem. I am looking for rehab that might help him to be more independent. Any ideas? Do you have a support group near you? I live in small town Iowa so it is difficult to find anyone who can relate to his medical problem. Thank you. Kathy McDonald
