                        My husband has an anoxic brain injury following a cardiac arrest on Feb 1,1999.  He has basically no short-term memory, and his long term memory is impared and appears to be getting worse.  He doesn't initiate any activity - must be cued to do most anything.  This appears to be worsening also.  He is presently in a clinical research project using hyperbaric oxygen therapy.  He has also had neurofeedback.  He was in acute rehab for 2 months, then in a post-acute rehab facility for brain injured for 2 months last year, but without short-term memory, it didn't have an impact.  He is very passive, not a behavior problem.  I am looking for rehab that might help him to be more independent.  Any ideas?  Do you have a support group near you?  I live in small town Iowa so it is difficult to find anyone who can relate to his medical problem.  Thank you.  Kathy McDonald
