Dear Kathy, I happened to read your messages when browsing this website today. I have so much same feeling as you. My husband has an anoxic brain injury following a cardiac arrest on July 24,2000. Same as your husband, he lost most of his long-term memory and has basically no short-term memory. He is very passive, dependent now, poor concentration, and not interested in everything. He often asks us a same question hundreds of times a day, but still can't remembe the answer. I am almost crazy. Several days ago, I got a news from one of my relatives. He told me he has a friend, who had a anoixic brain injury due to heart attack 5 year ago. This man has had same symptom as my husband, eg.poor short memory. Now he recovers well, and can work now. He has been taking alternative medicine treatment(massage & acupuncture) for 2 years, which is good for his recovery. This is good news for me. Because at present, there is no further treatment for my husband, and rehabilitation programms seems useless for him due to his poor short memory. I plan to let my husband try some acupunture. Hopefully it's helpful. How is your husband doing? I am very glad to share some ideas with you . I understand how you are feeling now. Let's be confident. Just believe they will get better, but it will take time. God bless you. Wendy
