I have been diagnosed with "Idiopathic Membraneous Nephropathy", which simply stated is a disease of the Glomeruli. The most disconcerting part of this diagnosis is the diversity of treatment alternatives one can follow. It appears at this time that almost all my Nephrologists, have placed the "burden" of medication decision with me! My biggest dilmena at this point is whether or not take Cyclosporin, or Prenisone, or even wait longer to see if I go into a remission, which appears to become more doubtful as I was diagnosed this past April! Each medication comes with its share of horrific side effects. I had breast cancer, more than 5 years ago, which might bias one to avoid a drug such as Cyclosporin, which tends to compromise one's immune system. I would love to hear from anyone who is taking "mega" doses of Prednisone for this disease, so that I can learn from their experiences more about this drug. Thank you so much.
