SPONTANEOUS PNEUMOTHORAX

Message 6 of 20 Previous Next

Hi, I am a 41 yr. male. I just got out of the hospital yesterday from this problem. I weigh 120lb. and am very active. Active at work and my hobbies include back packing and panning gold or fishing and hunting. All of these include long walks up and down mountanious territory. It's a blast!!! I am very upset with this illness. I have been told that there is a 50% chance of it happerning or not happening again. This means that it could happen today or maybe never again, but it more than likely will happen. I have also been told that there is no cure or preventative measures a person can take. All a person can do is live their life and try not to be alone or be close enough to other people to get help if needed. This tells me that I can't be on my own on hunting, backpacking, gold panning, or any other activity that requires being alone in the middle of know where just enjoying life and the peace of mind that nature gives. If anyone reads this and can give info on how to stop this from happening I would appreciate it very much. So far I have not been able to find anything but, "It is in the genes and just the way you are built." This is very dificult for me to accept as well as it is for you. I will continue my search for answers. If I find something of interest, I will come back on line and pass it along. Good luck to all of you!!! Camille
