                        I've not seen a doctor about this as it occurs rarely for me...but I had a wild one recently.  I've always refered to them as visual migraines.  Sometimes I experience pain...sometimes not...but the visual "aura" is a good warning system that it's time to get quickly into a subdued, low light environment.  Last time, I immediately took 800 mg. ibuprofen, a soy lecithin capsule, and laid down in a darkened room moving an icepack around on my head.  There was zero pain this particular time.
