KC, the reason you relate cmv to HIV is that it is the most common when it comes to finding info. Infact between 80 & 95% of the population will have cmv by adulthood but most never know about it, it is true the people with low immunity are most at risk and are more likely to have problems with cmv but others like yourself are quite often effected. CMV is passed on via bodily fluids which can range from it being passed on sexualy to having caught it from a child coughing or sneezing on you or from changing a diaper/nappy. Usually people whos immune system is ok do not have any further problems with cmv but alot do complain of constant chronic fatigue. You doctor will more than likely take some blood to check your cmv antibodies, if you are planning on having children you should get this checked again before and during pregnancy as cmv can cause problems if passed on to the unborn baby ranging from mild to very severe and in some cases as in our baby death. This is a virus that so little is still known but causes so many problems.
