I'm 24 and recently developed tonsil stones (never had 'em before). One option is having my tonsils removed. Not crazy about having this done (HATE hospitals and any medical procedures but have high tolerance for pain). Did anyone with tonsil stones choose not to do this surgery and if so, what do you do about the stones? Also read somewhere that having them removed may not stop the stones from developing...anyone know if there is any truth to this (specifically interested if anyone has had their tonsils removed and still gets stones). What is the recovery time as far as being out of work? I work at home, so I can baby myself well enough, but how long before I can talk on the phone comfortably and how long do the coughing spells last? Also, how long do you really need to have someone with you for and why? I live alone and don't want my Mom moving in with me for any long length of time!!!! Having this surgery would be a big problem - one I'd like to avoid if I could. Just got a very young dog from the local shelter and looks like I'll be needing my voice for a while (he's a hellraiser)! If anyone can tell me that I don't really need this surgery, I'd be quite pleased!! Thanks!
