I just want to say that at 37 I had a tonsilectomy 2 weeks ago and am doing fine. So not every story is a "horror" story. I had cysts on my left tonsil that were not giving me trouble, but the ENT doc thought I should have them removed just to make sure there was no malignancy. I was out of the hospital within 4 hrs of operation. Granted, I took it real easy for the first few days but my only issue was pain on swallowing and I used my liquid Lortab for that. Was able to eat "real" food by about day 9. I'm a big workout person (cardio and weights) so I think that was to my advantage as far as quick healing. Anyway, just wanted to post a more positive message--not every adult tonsilectomy is a horror story! Good luck to you all!
